Two more Bwindi gorilla families for habituation |
| Uganda Wildlife Authority has begun the process of habituating two more gorilla families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The habituation, which started in November 2009, was announced in September 2009 by the UWA Executive Director, Mr. Moses Mapesa during the launch of the Nshongi gorilla family in the same park.

Re-introduce oryx in Kidepo Valley National Park |
| Kidepo Valley National Park used to be home to the strikingly beautiful oryx but these have not been sighted since the mid-1990s. Uganda Wildlife Authority is now making plans to re-introduce oryx in Kidepo, and if everything goes according to plan, the exercise will be complete by mid 2010.

UWA Supporting Transboundary Conservation in Mt. Elgon National Park |
As the rest of the world celebrated the Christmas festive season, Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers in Mt. Elgon National Park had a rather exciting celebration of their own. In a meeting held on 13th December 2009, it was agreed between UWA’s Mt. Elgon National Park and Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) Mt. Elgon National park that there was need to strengthen security within the park during Christmas and the New Year festivities. This meeting was held at Suam Guest House, at the Kenyan side of the park together with KWS staff. |

UWA signs a Tourist facility development Concession with Asyanut Safaris Limited |
The Uganda wildlife Authority (UWA) has signed a 15 year concession with Asyanut Safaris to build and operate a luxury tented camp and campsite at Ntoroko in Toro semiliki wildlife Reserve. Toro semiliki wildlife Reserve is located in Western Uganda bordering DR Congo along Lake Albert and approx 2 hrs from fort portal. The 15 year concession whose terms will be reviewed every 2 years targets to have 16 Luxury tents and camping grounds. |
