Welcome yet again to our latest edition of the Wildlife online newsletter.We are grateful to all of you who gave us constructive feedback on our previous issue.A lot of developments have since occured in the tourism industry that are worth sharing with you.We thank you for your usual cooperation ad support for the conservation and tourism causes.  

Uganda emerged the fifth best exhibitor in the African category at the March 6-10 International Travel Berlin Fair 2013 where UWA was effectively represented, Bwindi, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth ,Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley national parks National parks attracted a lot of interests from international tour operators and potential visitors.

The US ambassador HE Scott DeLisi and his wife, the head of the USAID Mission here Leslie Reed and other high ranking US embassy officials on March 13,14 visited MFNP, where they enjoyed a game drive, visited Top of Falls and launched the Tourism for Biodiversity Program implemented by AWF. Mr. Raymond Engena represented the ED while Tom Okello brriefed the delegation  about the history of the park,visitor trends,Wildlife population trends and the conservation challenges as well as the co-existece of oil exploration activities and wildlife.

Awed by the beauty of the mighty Murchison Falls,the US amabassador remarked " From the awe-inspiring Murchiso Falls and  the park's abudant wildlife,to diverse birdand primate populationsof the Budongo Forest,you canot help but a bit humbled by the tremendous natural beauty of our planet and the richness and abundancethat exists around us."

  He added that the beauty and diversity adds richness to our lives and an add riches to the nation's purse but only if we ensure that we protect the heritage with which we have been blessed.

  He later launched the Tourism for Bio-diversity program which he said is a cooperative agreement with those who know first-hand Uganda's natural beauty and the ugent need to protect it.

He said UWA's mission to preserve Uganda's natural gifts,is also part of a global mission,ad that this second decade of the century has been designated a the UN Decade of Biodiversity. 

Uganda Wildlife Authority has reshuffled her wardens in charge of Tourism across her protected areas.

In the new reshuffle which is a routine management strategy, Ms Agnes Nakidde has been moved from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Mt. Elgon National Park. Nakidde has been replaced by Mr. Godfrey Balyesiima formerly in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) who has also been replaced by Amuza Chemonges whose old station was Ntebeko in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Moses Turinawe formerly in Kyambura wildlife reserve will replace Chemonges in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park as the new tourism warden while Yoweri Musana of Lake Mburo National Park has gone to Rwenzori National Park swapping places with Christine Nakayenze .

Joshua Masereka remains in Murchison Falls National Park, Leslie Muhindo in Kidepo Valley National Park, Mr.Oundo in Semuliki National Park.

Mzee George Atube (pictured below)is one of the longest serving interpretive guides in the Uganda Wildlife Estates. But his comedy and story telling skills make him stand out  and have endeared him to many visitors that flock Murchison Falls National Park especially for the game drives in the northern banks.

musiciansVisitors returning from the mid morning game drives and those waiting for ferry crossing at the jetty landing on northern banks of Murchison Falls National Park have an additional attraction.

The emergence of a sensational Mubako cultural troupe with traditional guitars locally known as Adungu and drums accompanied by love and conservation lyrics are a source of attention.
