EXPLOIT KALANGALA TOURISM POTENTIAL

The minister of Water and Environment Professor Ephraim Kamuntu has urged the tourism promoters to explore and harness the tourism potential in Kalangala district which comprises 82 islands.

Speaking during the World Environment Day 2013 at Kibanga Primary School in Kalangala Town Council on June 5,the minister remarked that Kalangala was sitting on gold yet people there remain wallowing in poverty.

He said the white sand beaches, the fauna and flora, water activities and a conducive weather make Kalangala a unique tourism destination. He also said agro tourism and sport fishing can also be promoted thereby asking the tour operators to always include the unique destination in the tour packages and itinerary sold to the local and international visitors.

Uganda Wildlife Authority took part in the World Environment Day Celebrations with their mountain gorilla dummies being a centre of attraction.
