Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Good walking boots if attempting any hikes or climbs, wet weather clothing and warm layers for the evenings – it gets cold and damp at this altitude. The sun is still fierce during the day – even when overcast – so be sure to still wear sunscreen and a sun hat. You may also want to bring waterproof bags to protect cameras and other equipment when hiking.

Water and snacks are also recommended, as well as a packed lunch for full-day tours.

During the day, the temperature is around 15°C, and nights, drop to around 10°C, There are two dry seasons December-February and May-August, with June and July having the least chance of rain. The wettest months are March-April and September-November. During the rains, the park is often covered in mist and the air is always damp; hailstorms are common. Though conditions are more difficult, the rainy seasons actually offer better views (when rain stops and mist lifts) than the hazier dry months.
