The Management of a national protected area system requires up-to-date information on a wide range of subjects including ecology, law enforcement, tourism socio-economy, patrol coverage as well as species distribution. Through monitoring of important key species in Uganda’s protected area system, the benefits of a systematic monitoring system are applied to the entire ecosystem. Its is against this background that CITESMIKE Programme has provided nine (9) garmin 72H global position systems to be used in enhancing UWA’s Managment Information System (MIST).
They were handed over to Dr. Andrew Gunga Seguya the Acting Executive Director of UWA by Edison Nuwamanya CITES MIKE PROGRAMME Sub-Regional Support Officer East Africa.
